DAY 2: PARIS, discover the Impressionists' favorite places

This morning will be devoted to the guided audio tour of the Chateau of Auvers-sur-Oise. In the afternoon, you will get the chance to visit the Musée Marmottan in Paris. This museum houses the largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet and provides an overview of how his work developed, from the first caricatures of his youth to the Water Lilies series, his mature works (the museum is closed on Mondays and its visit will be replaced by the Musée de L'orangerie). After this visit, we'll return on board for a cruise through Paris "by night".

DAY 3: paris - GIVERNY, in the footsteps of Claude Monet - VERNON

This morning will be spent cruising. Second thematic presentation: "Claude Monet, the quintessence of Impressionism”. This afternoon, join us for a visit to Claude Monet's house in Giverny. The artist spent half his life here, dividing his time between working on his garden, a living painting if ever there was one, and the great passion of his final years, the Water Lilies series. You will be free to explore the house, which houses Monet's private collection of Japanese prints, and the garden, a haven of greenery. Enjoy a "Guingette” evening on board.

DAY 4: ROUEN, in the footsteps of the Impressionists

This morning will be spent cruising. In the afternoon, join us on a thematic guided tour of Rouen in the footsteps of the Impressionists (the Musée des Beaux-Arts is closed on Tuesdays and public holidays, the visit will thus be replaced by the Eugène Boudin Museum in Honfleur, our stop on D6). Tonight is our gala dinner and evening.

We'll spend this morning cruising on the most beautiful section of the Seine with its numerous meanders and sleepy villages which have inspired many a painter. Third thematic presentation: "The geography of Impressionism: Paris and the suburbs, Honfleur and the Norman coast”. We'll reach Duclair and set out for our excursion along the Norman Abbey Circuit. We'll depart for Honfleur in the evening.

DAY 6: HONFLEUR - ETRETAT - the Alabaster Coast

Join us for a tour on foot of Honfleur: the cradle of Impressionism where Boudin, Monet, Bazille, Jongkind would meet at the famous Saint Siméon farm and try to capture the changing light of the estuary. You'll be free to visit the Eugène Boudin Museum at your own pace (entrance fee not included). The afternoon will be devoted to the tour of the Côte d'Albâtre, the natural heritage of the Pays de Caux and the Seine estuary with visits to Etretat and Fécamp.

Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. End of our services.

shore Excursions

Departure by coach for a visit to the Château d'Auvers-sur-Oise. An animated tour will take you on a "journey back to the time of the Impressionists” on the tracks of the Master Painters who left their mark on the town's history including Daubigny, Pissarro, Cézanne, Monet, and Van Gogh. An audio tour will guide you through the various rooms of the Château where you'll get a grasp of life in Paris in the 19th century . We'll return on board by coach at the end of the morning.

This museum houses the largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet and provides an overview of how his work developed, from the first caricatures of his youth to the water lilies, his mature works. (Museum closed on Mondays, in this case, visit of the Parc de l'Orangerie).

You will leave the boat by coach to travel to the home of Claude Monet in Giverny. His passion for gardening and colors led him to conceive his flowers garden as a true art piece. You will discover the pink facade while penetrating the garden. We'll be back on board in Vernon late afternoon.

Discover the different sites where artists have created prestigious paintings such as Monet's Rouen Cathedral series, Pissarro's Pont Boieldieu in Rouen, Rainy Weather, and many, many others. You'll visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen, which has the largest collection of Impressionist paintings outside of Paris. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and holidays, though, and will be replaced by a visit to the Musée Eugène Boudin in Honfleur (stopover on Day 6).

We'll set off by coach from Duclair. The excursion begins with a visit of the Jumièges Abbey, built in 654. During our visit we'll also discover the cloisters and the ruins of the Church of Saint Peter before visiting the Abbey of Saint Wandrille or Wandregisel (exterior only), a highly spiritual monument founded in the same century. We'll return to the boat by coach.

Walking tour. Honfleur, the cradle of Impressionism, is located at the mouth of the Seine as it flows into the English Channel. Untouched by the passage of time, this small port has kept the landmarks of its rich past, making it today one of the most visited towns in France. The narrow houses squeezed against each other are a unique sight. Next, we'll see Saint Catherine's Church, the largest wooden church in France. We'll return to our ship on foot.

Leave Honfleur by coach for the excursion to the Alabaster Coast. This trip will be your chance to discover the natural heritage of the Pays de Caux and the Seine estuary. Pass by the high cliffs of white chalk and stone beaches popularised by the paintings of Claude Monet. First stop at Etretat. Once a fishing village, Etretat became a place of inspiration for artists (Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin and Claude Monet). The town has several remarkable chateaus, manor houses and villas. Continue by coach to Fécamp. Be charmed by this town labelled "Town and country of art and history”.
